Research Assistant / Officer in Vision Science
The above post is available for 2 years funded by the British Diabetic Asociation.
The study will monitor the effect of the artificial manipulation of blood glucose and blood
oxygen levels on short-wavelength (SW) sensitivity and retinal capillary blood flow in
diabetic patients (and normal controls). Identification of the factors which impact on SW
sensitivity may provide insight into the mechanism(s) which ultimately underlie sight loss
in diabetic maculopathy.
Applicants must have a 1st or 2nd class honours degree in Optometry or Vision Science and a
professional qualification in Optometry. Three years experience in a research or clinical
environment is also essential. Computer skills including experience of word processing,
spreadsheets and databases would be an advantage.
Commencing salary: £15,735 - 17,570 per annum.
