Academic/Research Positions
The Psychology Department at Wichita State University seeks qualified
individuals to fill a tenure eligible assistant professor position in Human
Factors Psychology, pending funding. We offer the Ph.D. in Human Factors
and Community-Clinical Psychology. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in
Psychology or other appropriate field. Training or experience in human
factors or other areas of applied experimental psychology is preferred.
Applicants should have research experience and interest in one or more
applied areas; e.g., aviation, human-computer interaction, aging, motor
control, safety, medical systems and rehabilitation, training methodology.
This position requires active research and publication, the ability to
interact collegially, a commitment to attracting external funding, and a
strong commitment to teaching. Teaching requirements may include both
graduate and undergraduate courses in human factors and other areas.
Wichita State University is located in the state's largest city and major
industrial metropolitan area with a population of approximately a half a

The National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) at Wichita State
University has available the following employment opportunity.
Applications will be accepted through October 31 or until the position is
filled.
Associate or Full Professor with background and interests in Aviation Human
Factors, especially in the areas of ergonomics, perception, and
performance. This will be a joint appointment between NIAR and an
appropriate academic department such as Psychology or Industrial
Engineering. The successful candidate will have the credentials to qualify
for a tenured academic position, but teaching load and other duties will be
defined so as to allow the person to play a leading role in expanding NIAR
research in the human factors area. An earned Ph.D. is required. Previous
industry or government laboratory experience is desirable.
