Strasbourg is a moderately sized town with a huge gothic cathedral in the
centre, and lots of smaller shops and restaurants, theatres, a beautiful
baroque opera house, and a selection of chamber concerts and other musical
events available every night. The campus is located centrally, which means
that one can live there without needing a car. Strasbourg's suburbs are
picturesque and rural, with many beautiful spots to visit. The place is
especially attractive in the winter, with some snow, little Christmas
markets everywhere, good wines (their Gewuerztraminer is
world-famous),eccentric food (lots of spices and cinnamon in and on
everything), and a truly romantic, cosy atmosphere. Most US citizens would
certainly find it very nice there for a while.

in this post-doc position!
