Please post this announcement, thanks a lot! Valerie
Dynamic Vision and the Perception of the 3D Space.
The Computer Vision Group at the Department of Electrical Engineering,
National University of Singapore (NUS), is looking for a Postdoctoral
researcher. The position is to study both computationally and
psychophysically the geometry of the perceived space resulting from
egomotion or object-motion. Models will also be developed to better
understand the complex perceptual change experienced by users of
optical devices such as optical correction lenses and virtual reality
helmets.
The Vision group in NUS is dedicated to fundamental research in visual
perception, especially that arising from motion and stereo. We have
strong links with Professor Yiannis Aloimonos of University of
Maryland, and Dr Valerie Cornilleau-Peres of LPPA, CNRS.
For this particular project, we will also be collaborating with the
Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI).
The successful candidate will have a strong theoretical background in
relevant areas of Computational Vision such as motion analysis,
moving object detection, etc. He/she should have a strong interest in
biological vision, as he will have to participate to the design of
psychophysical experiments to verify the theoretical predictions. He/she
should
possess programming skills.
The position is available immediately and is funded for 3 years.
The monthly income is (in Singapore dollars) $3,250, S$3,500, and S$3,750
for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year respectively. There will be a 13th month
allowance and 2 months' variable bonus.
Singapore is a modern city with a panel of different people from different
races and religions living and working together. Its universities are of
international level in many areas of research, and are developping strong
connections with overseas institutions. The vision community in Singapore
is now well developped, with research projects in computer and biological
vision. Singapore has also a strategic location for exploring the beauty
and richness of Asian countries. Bali, Malaysia, Thailand and other regions
offer a usually warm hospitality to the visitor who explores their
wonderful mountain and sea landscapes.
