POST-DOCTORAL POSITION IN BRAIN PLASTICITY AND IMAGING

************************************************************************

A post-doctoral position is available in the laboratory of Brain and
Vision at the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY. The lab focuses
on questions of neural plasticity in the human brain. We are
specifically interested in assessing how experience alters the
functional organization of the brain. To address this question, we have
been comparing populations with different sensory experience, such as
congenitally deaf and hearing subjects using several different
techniques, including functional magnetic resonance imaging, eye
position monitoring and recording of behavioral measures (see
http://www.bcs.rochester.edu/~daphne). We expect the post-doctoral
applicant to join our on-going project on the comparative study of
visual attention in controls and congenitally deaf individuals. The aim
of this project is to characterize the neural processes that mediate
visual attention and understand how they become altered after early
auditory deprivation.

The lab is located in the department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences
which provide a rich scientific environment with experts in learning
and development in animals and humans, language acquisition and
processing, computational approaches to cognition and neuroscience,=20
and motor control (http://www.bcs.rochester.edu). The lab is also
affiliated to the Center for Visual Science which is among one of the
largest research center dedicated to the study of visual perception
(http://www.cvs.rochester.edu). The University of Rochester offers
multiple resources including access to a 1.5T GE magnet.

If interested, please send a CV and short statement of your interest,
as well as the name and address of three references to Daphne Bavelier,
daphne@bcs.rochester.edu.
