Post Doctoral Position - Optics and Ophthalmology
The University of Ottawa Eye Institute is seeking applications for a 2 year post doctoral fellowship in the objective assessment of the optical quality of the eye following refractive surgery. The successful candidate will have a doctorate in either Visual Science, Physics or Engineering with experience in all aspects of the development and assessment of optical instrumentation. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a team is essential. Experience in ophthalmic instrumentation would be and asset but is not necessary.
The visual optics laboratory is currently involved in a number of other projects in corneal topography, optical coherence tomography, tonometry and alternatives to animal testing in toxicology. As a member of the team, the fellow could be asked to contribute to any active projects within the laboratory as well as help in the development of new research directions. Funding for the visual optics laboratory comes, the Medical Research Council of Canada and industry and the Ottawa General Hospital Research Institute.
The Eye Institute, including all clinical services and research laboratories, is located at the General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital. The research and clinical facilities are modern and well equipped. Research laboratories and offices are integrated within the clinical service of the Eye Institute fostering close research collaborations between Ph.D.'s and clinicians.
