VISION SCIENCES, ASTON UNIVERSITY (BIRMINGHAM, UK)
10-month Leverhulme Overseas Visiting Fellowship

The Vision Sciences Research Institute at Aston University has a 10-month
Leverhulme Trust Visiting Fellowship available from October 1999 (or
sooner). Research in any aspect of optometry, vision science or related
areas will be considered.

The fellowship is open to any post-doctoral academic researcher who is not a
UK citizen and is permanently resident in any country other than the UK (to
which they must plan to return at the end of their Fellowship). The fellow
must have secured a doctorate before taking up Fellowship. Appointments are
subject to university procedures and the approval of the Leverhulme
Director.

Fellowships are for 9-10 months and Fellows are to remain in the UK for that
period. Fellows are encouraged not only to conduct research but also to
give lectures and seminars, and to participate in the intellectual life of
the institution.

Financial support will be in the form of a stipend of up to 1,360 pounds per
month, depending on income/grants available from other sources. In addition
the fellow's return fare will be paid and a small allowance is available for
travel within UK. An additional allowance may be made for an accompanying
non-earning partner.
