A postdoctoral NIMH training grant slot is available immediately to
study the neurophysiological basis of sensorimotor and cognitive
processing in monkey neocortex. Cortical organization and function are
studied using single- and multiple-neuron recording, interneuronal
correlations of spike trains, microstimulation, and reversible
inactivation of small cortical regions, etc. applied during performance
of sensorimotor and mnemonic tasks. The frontal eye field,
supplementary eye field, and other cortical association areas are
investigated with the ultimate aim of developing realistic computational
models of the network of cortical areas that underlie sensory, motor,
and cognitive integration.
Experience in neurophysiological, computational, or behavioral
neuroscience is desired.
US citizen or permanent resident status required for NIMH training grant
fellowships.
