Research Assistant Position in Cognitive Neuroscience

Position available for a full-time research assistant to work in Alan
Kingstone's lab at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada
(http://www.ubc.ca/). The lab conducts research on human attention using
behavioral measures (RT and accuracy) with healthy and patient populations.
This job involves assisting with experiments, including all phases of the
research from the design of experiments to the preparation of stimulus
materials, the running of subjects, the analysis of the data, and the
preparation of the data in figures for talks and papers. This position
requires C programming ability, and extensive experience with Mac and PC
environments, and the ability to problem solve on your own. You should also
be able to trouble-shoot various problems (e.g. printers, extension
conflicts, network connections, soft-ware packages, etc). The job also
involves organizational/managerial tasks such as purchasing and maintaining
equipment and supplies, overseeing undergraduates involved in research,
making figures and slides, plus occasional tasks such as xeroxing and
library work.

Enthusiasm for cognitive neuroscience and a willingness to work hard are
essential. Any knowledge of attention, neuroanatomy, or statistics would
be a plus. This job is ideal for anyone interested in research in cognitive
science; research assistants in this lab are treated as junior graduate
students and it is an ideal stepping stone to graduate school. (All three
people who have held this position are now enrolled in top graduate
programs). The position will begin approximately September 1, 1999.
Commitment of at least one year is required, two years preferred. If you
are interested please email a CV (rich text format), and arrange to have 2
letters of reference sent, to alan.kingstone@ualberta.ca.
