Below is a message for the CVNet members. It might be interesting for the
CVNet to be aware of the ISCC Website. It includes the ability to download
the latest AIC Newsletter and an up-to-date program for the Second
Panchromatic Conference.

Second Panchromatic Conference
Inter-Society Color Council
February 19-21, 2000, Savannah, Georgia

The preliminary program for the ISCC Second Panchromatic Conference is now
available from the ISCC website <www.iscc.org>. A selection of invited and
submitted talks have been organized into sessions focused on surround
effects in color vision, in graphic and fine arts, and in architectural
surrounds. Poster presentations will open the conference and a panel
discussion will close the event. Additional posters and demonstrations of
surround effects are invited for addition to the program; please contact
Cynthia Brewer <cbrewer@essc.psu.edu>.

Invited keynote talks at the conference are:
Michel-EugËne Chevreul: From laws and principles to the production of color
plates
FranÁoise ViÈnot, MusÈum National d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris, France.
Where is the color in color vision?
Steven K. Shevell, Visual Sciences Center, University of Chicago.
Color constancy and color context effects
David H. Brainard, Psychology, University of California at Santa
Barbara.
Seeing black and white: Computation of lightness by the human visual system
Alan Gilchrist, Psychology, Rutgers University.
On the perception of brightness and contrast of variegated backgrounds
Mark D. Fairchild, Munsell Color Science Laboratory, Rochester Institute
of
Technology.
Demonstration of the effect on colors of a surround that exhibits color
assimilation
Joy Turner Luke, Studio 231, Sperryville VA.
Cal McCamy will make a special presentation, which includes the 40th
anniversary presentation of his scientific demonstration of Land two-color
projections, titled: Abridged color reproduction revisited or Sleeping
Beauty II.

Please mark the conference dates on your calendar; we hope to see you in
historic (and warm) Savannah in February. Registration information will
arrive with the next ISCC News or is available from Cynthia Sturke at the
