RESEARCH ASSISTANT POSITION-PLEASE POST
Applications are invited for a research assistant to work on visual
motion
perception and restorative plasticity in the human visual system.
We are looking for a new college graduate who wants to spend one or
more years
in a research setting before going on to graduate school.
The post holder would help in the daily running of a laboratory
belonging
Professor Lucia Vaina, designing, programming and running experiments,
both
psychophysics in the lab (with normal and neurological subjects) and
with
fMRI brain imaging. It also entails preparing the data vizualization
for
reports and presentations (using PhotoShop). Furthermore, the job
also
entails organizing a subject pool and running subjects, analyzing
data,
collaborating in writing articles, cooperating with graduate students
and
postdocs, taking part in lab meetings and discussions, and doing some
library searches and data vizualization.
Requirements: Excellent communication skills and ability to work with
other
lab. members. Some knowledge of Unix and programming skills in C
essential,
knowledge of Macs and PC's highly desirable. B.A. with courses in
Physics,
Computer Science, Cognitive Science or Psychology preferred. The
position
would give the holder experience of research in a variety of topics
in
cognitive neuroscience, and should be a useful preparation for
graduate
school or professional training in related areas. The position is for
one
or two years in the first instance, with the hope of renewal.
