Subject: POSTDOCTORAL POSITION AVAILABLE

POSTDOCTORAL POSITION AVAILABLE

A position is available starting January, 2000 to study the influences
of patterns of neuronal activity on the development of the anatomy and
physiology of the visual system.

Techniques used to study this question in my laboratory include single-unit
recording, optical imaging, pharmacological manipulations, and anatomical
tracing techniques. Experience with some or all of these techniques and
with computers (LabView, IDL, Excel, etc.) is desirable.

The Center for Neuroscience at UC Davis consists of a highly interactive
group of laboratories housed in a modern facility. Our strength is currently
in the area of systems neuroscience, but we are expanding into cellular and
molecular areas, with 10 new faculty positions to be filled over the next 5
years. There are therefore opportunities for collaboration at all levels of
analysis.

Davis is a pleasant college town located in Northern California, within
1.5 hours drive of San Francisco, Wine country, and the Sierras.
