I would appreciate it very much if you would post the following on CVNET:
Postdoctoral/Research Associate Positions in Primate Cognition and Motor
Control.
We currently have 2 NIH-funded positions available for immediate start, and,
based upon experience, will consider individuals interested in working at either
the postdoctoral or research associate level. Experiments in our laboratory use
behavioral and neurophysiological techniques to investigate the role of rhesus
monkey cerebral cortex in the generation of eye movements. We have 2 primary
areas of interest: 1) Examining the neural mechanisms underlying the control of
eye movements during scanning of natural images (Burman and Segraves, J.
Neurophysiol. 71: 1266-1271). And 2) Investigating the behavioral performance
and neural activity during reaction time tasks involving simple decision making.
The later work is done in collaboration with Dr. Roger Ratcliff in the Dept. of
Psychology at Northwestern, affording the opportunity to compare our data from
monkey experiments to data and models of human performance in reaction time
tasks (Segraves, Cherian, and Ratcliff, Soc. Neurosci. Abstr. 25: 1920). Salary
will be highly competitive. Applicants must have an M.D or Ph.D. with background
in neuroscience. Experience with neurophysiological techniques and computer
programming desirable. Our laboratory is part of Northwestern's Institute for
Neuroscience (http://www.nwu.edu/nuin/) which offers numerous opportunities for
interaction and collaboration.

I will attend the Society for Neuroscience Meeting, October 23-28, 1999, and
would be happy to interview applicants during that time.
