Dear Hoover,

Could you please post the following announcement?

Graduate Program in the Area of Mathematical Psychology

The graduate training program in Mathematical
Psychology in the Department of Psychological Sciences at
Purdue University welcomes new applications.

Members of our area specialize in mathematical and
computational modeling of cognitive phenomena. Areas of
current interest include memory, decision making, problem
solving, visual and auditory perception, sensory
detection and discrimination, psychological measurement.
The graduate program emphasizes both mathematical rigor
and general cognitive science. Interested students can
also be affiliated with the Purdue Neuroscience program
or the Computational Science & Engineering program.

The program includes a core faculty in the
Quantitative/Mathematical psychology area, and affiliated
faculty from a variety of other areas of psychology,
engineering, and biology. We offer outstanding facilities
with a suite of computers, dedicated for graduate student
teaching and research, recently upgraded.

Graduate students are generally funded by
scholarships in the form of teaching or research
assistantships. The scholarships cover tuition and
provide a stipend of approximately $1000 per month (which
is sufficient for the low cost of living in the midwest).

For more information about the graduate program, go
to the Quantitative/Mathematical psychology web page:
http://www.psych.purdue.edu/Quantitative/index.html, or
contact Dr. Zygmunt Pizlo (pizlo@psych.purdue.edu).

To obtain application forms, contact Mrs. Marlene
Mann in the graduate office at the Department of
Psychological Sciences, Purdue University, West
Lafayette, IN 47907-1364 (tel: 765 494 6067, email:
mann@psych.purdue.edu).

Applications from women and minority candidates are
especially encouraged. AA/EOE.
