    Applications are now being accepted for a post-doctoral
    position to be filled within the next six months, preferably
    by April, 2000. This arises from a recently awarded UK
    Government research grant (AHRB) for a new project to
    investigate the use of digital photography and image processing
    for archival pictures of historical stained glass windows.

    Candidates should have a PhD in a relevant discipline, ideally
    with knowledge of photography, illumination, colour science,
    image processing and quality assessment techniques. If no
    suitable post-doctoral researcher can be found, a good
    Masters graduate will be considered

    The Colour & Imaging Institute is Europe's leading research
    centre for colour science and image engineering. The staff
    have strong expertise in vision science, colour measurement,
    colour modelling, image processing, image quality assessment
    and psychophysics. Research facilities include a suite of
    laboratories and experimental rooms, with a wide range of
    colour measuring instruments and colour imaging devices.

    The appointment will be three years in length. Salary will be
    on the standard UK RA1 scale, in the range £13K - £20K
    pounds, based on years of experience. Applications from

    2) a curriculum vitae; 3) reprints of relevant published work;
    4) three letters of reference; and 5) transcripts of higher
    education and GRE scores if available.
