    UNITED STATES FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION

    *INTERDISCIPLINARY VISION SCIENTIST *

    The Food and Drug Administration's Center for Devices and Radiological
    Health located in Rockville, Maryland is recruiting an experienced vision
    scientist to serve as a scientific reviewer of premarket approval
    notifications (510(k)s), investigational device exemptions (IDEs) and
    premarket approval applications (PMAs) for diagnostic and surgical
    ophthalmic devices. Applicants should have a Ph.D. and postdoctoral
    research experience in one or more areas of visual science, preferably
    including clinical applications of visual psychophysics and/or
    electrophysiology, and should have a solid working knowledge of visual
    optics, laser optics and optics of ophthalmic instruments. Skill in the
    critical review of complex scientific and technical documents is also
    essential.

    Starting salary for this civil service position ranges from $51,204 to
    $79,155 and includes an excellent benefits package. U.S. Public Health
    Service Commissioned Corps positions are also available. This is a term
    appointment (2 years) part or full time, with the possibility of conversion
    to permanent appointment.
