Postdoctoral Research Position in Human Vision at NECI
       ----------------------------------------------------------

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position in
Human Vision at the NEC Research Institute, Princeton, New Jersey,
initially for two years and beginning in September 2000 or as mutually
agreed. The successful candidate should have a PhD and will be
expected to conduct independent, basic research in Vision. She or he
should have a proven record of research in Computer or Human
Vision. The NEC Research Institute is dedicated to basic, long term
research in Computer Science and Physics. The Vision group currently
consists of Ingemar Cox, David Jacobs, John Oliensis, Jeff Siskind,
Karvel Thornber, 3 postdoctoral researchers in computer vision and
psychophysics (Venu Govindu, Bosco Tjan, Olga Vexler), and sabbatical
visitors (Ronen Basri, Mike Werman). Our research interests include
perceptual organization, object recognition, human psychophysics,
motion, stereo, texture, and shading. Related research is also being
carried out at NECI on Image Processing, learning and on the
biophysics of insect perception (Bill Bialek, Rob de Ruyter, Hanan
Davidowitz). The NECI vision group sponsors regular Vision Workshops
intended to bring together psychophysicists, computer vision
researchers, and neuroscientists. Salary will depend on
qualifications and will be competitive. More information can be found
