    I was reading through some old e-mails and found yours which I
    hadnt read before,

    I guess you must have had a lot of replies by now.
    If not, all ophthalmologists measure proptosis by Hertel. This
    instrument measures the distance between the anterior edge of the
    cornea and the lateral canthal angle (which is the name of the
    place you are referring to). There are some publications on this:
    average among men, women, blacks etc. Normal values for
    Europen men are below 19mm and for women below 16mm.

    Well maybe never too late. Let me know if you cant find the
    references.
