    Development of Vision Science research is a stated objective of the University's
    highly selective research strategy. As such, the post-holder will be expected to
    enhance the work of the Vision Science Research Group and will also be expected to
    contribute to teaching and/or Clinical training of Optometry students.
    The Vision Science Research Group is part of the 5-star graded School of Biomedical
    Sciences and currently holds external research funding from the Wellcome Trust, the
    British Diabetic Association, The Royal Society, the Guide Dogs for the Blind
    Association and others.

    Applicants must possess a first or second class Honours degree in Vision Science or a
    related discipline, together with a professional qualification in Optometry and at
    least three years' experience in Vision Science research.
    Also essential is a publication record sufficient for the 2001 UK Research Assessment 
    Exercise (ie 4 papers since 1996).

    Salary will be in the range 17,238 - 35,670 british pounds per annum.
