    POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSISTANT

    SALARY RS1A SCALE 16,286 - 24,479 pounds sterling

A postdoctoral position funded by the Wellcome Trust is available for two years
to work on the growth and refractive development of the eye. The person
appointed will work with primates. The aims of the research project are to
discover whether eye growth compensates for optical demand altered by the
wearing of spectacles or contact lenses in
juvenile and early adult life and to explore the sensory and other signals,
    particularly
the role of blurring of the retinal image, in driving the altered growth.

Applications are encouraged from postdoctoral biologists, experimental
psychologists, optometrists, ophthalmologists, physiologists or vision
scientists with an interest in vision and development.

Further information can be obtained from the Assistant Administrator, University
Laboratory of Physiology, Parks Road, Oxford, U.K. OX1 3PT (quoting ref:
    AS00018) to
whom your written application and curriculum vitae should be sent. Please
include details of two referees who may be contacted prior to interview. The
closing date for applications is 28 April 2000.
