    Subject: colour control on PC's

    Dear Hoover,

Please could you post the following to CVNet?

    Regards,

    Paul Sowden

We wish to produce chromatic gratings on a Windows 95/98/NT PC
platform. Most standard graphics cards now advertise themselves as
having 32 bit colour depth. We would appreciate any information on
the use of these cards, how to program them (Directx and Windows
API?), whether they really have 32 bit colour control (some
technical references appear to note that 8 bits are actually
allocated to a transparency buffer, leaving 24 bits for colour
control), if available, how the 32 bits are divided over the 3 guns
    etc.

Please e-mail any information to P.Sowden@surrey.ac.uk.

    Many Thanks,

    Paul Sowden
