The Biological Psychology (Prof. Dorret Boomsma) Clinical =
Neuropsychology (Prof. Joe Sergeant) and Cognitive Psychology (Prof. Jan =
Theeuwes) departments of the faculty of Psychology of the Vrije =
University of Amsterdam use brain imaging techniques like fMRI and MEG =
to study the relationship between brain and behavior. The research is =
conducted in close collaboration with the Research Institute =
Neurosciences VU (RINVU) of the Faculty of Medicine (Prof. Menno =
Witter). Research issues addressed are: behavioral genetics, cognitve =
ageing, stress, ADHD, and attention. Research will be carried out on =
healthy subjects as well as patients. The candidate will have access to =
various state of the art imaging equipment (including a 1.5 Tesla MRI =
scanner and a 151 channel whole head MEG system). There is technical =
support to operate the equipment.=20
The candidate will assist and advise researchers of the different =
departments in developing paradigms, methodologies and analyzing =
techniques suited for brain imaging techniques such as fMRI and MEG.=20
The successful candidate will have a strong background and demonstrated =
research program in human cognition with an emphasis on brain-behavior =
relationships. Some experience with fMRI and MEG is required. Applicants =
with a strong background in methodology, computer science, and/or =
physics may also apply. Excellent communication skills and flexibility =
on part of the applicant are required as the candidate will have to =
collaborate with researchers from different departments.=20
The candidate will be part of the Department of Cognitive Psychology =
(Prof. Jan Theeuwes). The contract is for a period of two years
