    AWCBR 2000 Reminder

Australasian Winter Conference on Brain Research
    26-30 August 2000, Queenstown

    CALL FOR ABSTRACTS AND REGISTRATION

    Dear Colleague,
We are now calling for abstracts and registration for this year's
AWCBR meeting, to be held 26-30 August, 2000 at the Mountain
View Lodge in Queenstown, New Zealand .

    ABSTRACT & REGISTRATION DEADLINE - 12 May

The deadline for receipt of early registrations (NZ$140) and
abstracts is 12 May, after which a late fee of NZ$50
(students $35) applies. Please be aware that no abstract will be
accepted unless it is accompanied by the registration fee. The
registration fee will cover entry to all scientific sessions of AWCBR.
There is a reduced registration fee of NZ$80 for accompanying
persons which covers morning coffee, afternoon tea and the
opening and closing cocktail parties. Late registrations will be
accepted up to the time of the conference, but the deadline for late
abstract submission and accommodation bookings is 30 June.

Prof Jack Pettigrew, from the University of Queensland will be
presenting the plenary address on the topic "Interhemispheric
Switching, Perceptual Rivalry and Mood Disorders."

    Other symposia being planned include:

    - Brain and Spine Trauma

    - Aging Issues in Neuroscience

    - Visual Consciousness

    - Plasticity and the Vestibular System

While we welcome abstracts submitted in conjunction with the
above symposia, we expect that a large number of abstracts will
also be submitted without prior attribution to a symposium. As in
previous years, we will organise these into appropriate sessions.
We believe that a major strength of AWCBR is the broad range of
topics covered and the general interest of participants in the wide
diversity of papers. Should you wish to organise a symposium on a
topic of your interest please do so, but ensure that AWCBR is
informed about its title and likely participants as soon as possible.
