Subject: Job - Infant Vision
RESEARCH ASSISTANT: INFANT VISUAL PERCEPTION,
EUNICE KENNEDY SHRIVER CENTER, WALTHAM, MASS.
I am seeking a Research Assistant to work on an NIH-funded project
studying the normal development of visual neural processing in human
infants. Most of the experiments in this project will collect visual
evoked potential data to understand the neural bases of perceptual
development. The appropriate candidate will have a BS/BA degree, an
interest in visual neuroscience and/or human development, and good
organizational, computer (Mac), and communication skills. Willingness to
sing baby songs and make animal noises to entertain infant observers
is also a plus.
Duties will include data collection (including interactions with infants
and their parents), subject recruitment and scheduling, some data analysis
and graphical presentation, and general lab organization. This job will
offer excellent research training and experience for an individual who
plans to pursue future graduate studies.
The Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center is affiliated with the University of
Massachusetts Medical School, and is located in a pleasant wooded area of
Waltham, a 15-minute drive from Cambridge and Boston. The Shriver Center
offers excellent salary and benefits, including tuition reimbursement for
part-time courses taken at area universities. This position has an
earliest starting date of August 1, and a minimum 1 year commitment is
required.
