The Department has the opportunity to appoint 5 new members of academic sta=
ff to its team teaching=20
courses in Optometry and Ophthalmic Dispensing. Currently the Department ha=
s over 900 students=20

track-record of a candidate is=20
sufficiently strong.=20
This new, dynamic Department is developing its research in the areas of gla=

monitoring, paediatric optometry, the optics of the eye, and professional a=
nd public health issues such=20
as clinical governance, referral strategies and co-management.. Appointees=
may join existing research=20
groups or develop their own complementary research interests. The Universi=
ty=92s aim is to establish the=20
Department as a centre of research excellence..=20
We encourage applications from candidates who are qualified optometrists or=
dispensing opticians, or=20
who have a first degree in a relevant discipline such as the biological sci=
ences or physics, and who have=20
a higher degree by research or other outstanding research qualifications. R=
