BINOCULAR DISPARITY PROCESSING AND STEREOPSIS
Applications are invited for a 3 year Postdoctoral position,
working with Dr. Clifton Schor, on an NEI funded grant to study early
channels of the visual system that encode disparity signals for sustained
and transient stereoscopic depth perception. Our aim is to delineate the
properties of the transient system, including its spatial and temporal
interactions and its computational strategies for solving binocular
correspondence. The purpose is to examine whether there are really two
distinct channels (transient and sustained) for stereopsis. Priority will
be for candidates who have experience in human psychophysics, programming
experience in visual basic and experience with Matlab.
Facilities include VSG graphic stimulus generators, Ferro-shutters
and fast phosphor monitors, data processing and modeling software, access
to a variety of eye movement monitors including the SRI dual Purkinje eye
tracker, and SMI 3-D Video oculograph that provides on-line measures
binocular eye position in three dimensions.
Annual stipends are $30,000. The application consists of: 1) a
letter of intent which includes your research experience, interests and
goals, 2) a curriculum vitae, 3) reprints of published work, 4) three
letters of reference.
