    Dr. Chan:
I am looking for a authors to write two short and very basic articles =
for a journal, Laboratory Medicine, published by our professional =
society, the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. We want two =
articles on topics of importance to laboratory technologists and =
pathologists, color blindness and night (dark) vision problems. Our =
journal is read by about 150,000 medical laboratory technologists and =
    10,000 pathologists.

The articles should be very basic and short, 1600 words or about 5 =
    double-spaced manuscript pages.

The content I had in mind for the two articles are:

    Color blindness
        Basic pathophysiology
        Genetics (very basic)
        Varieties
How individuals with color blindness adapt to tasks requiring color =
vision (color blind pathologists read stained slides and techs work in =
    labs)

    Night vision
        Basic pathophysiology
Implications in performing tests dependant on seeing a faint light =
    such as fluorescent microscopy
Are there any simple methods to detect and quantify low light vision =
    loss?

The deadline for manuscript submission is negotiable. It would be =
appropriate to have a resident, graduate student or fellow write one or =
both of these articles if a faculty member reviewed it prior to =
    submission.

I would appreciate it if you would place this request on your network.

    Thanks for your assistance,
    Daniel M. Baer, MD
    Chief, Pathology (Retired), Portland VAMC
    Professor Emeritus, Laboratory Medicine, OHSU
