Subject: NEW DEADLINE for HUMAN VISION and ELECTRONIC IMAGING Conference -
             July 31st, 2000

We are pleased to announce an extended deadline for the IS&T/SPIE
Conference on Human Vision and Electronic Imaging (HVEI) , to be held in
San Jose, California, January 21-25, 2001. 500-word abstracts for oral or
    poster
presentations will be accepted until July 31st, and can be submitted
    on-line.
Proceedings manuscripts are due: December 18, 2000.

HVEI is a multidisciplinary conference devoted to the interplay between
    human vision
and electronic imaging systems. Researchers in psychophysics, perception,
    and cognition
interact with imaging scientists to explore topics such as image
    compression, image quality,
image rendering, visualization, digital libraries, medical imaging, and
    art.

This year there will be two special symposia:
1.) Vision and Rendering of Material Properties," organized by Jan
    Kenderink
2.)Emotional Aspects of Imaging Systems", organized by Elena
    Federovskaya

For more information about the conference, past programs, the committee,
and about the HVEI community, please check out our new web site:
