    The Department of Psychonomics, University of Utrecht, The Netherlands,
    is looking for:

    1. Assistant Professor in Cognitive and Theoretical Psychology
    2. Assistant Professor in Psychophysics
    3. Assistant Professor in Applied Cognitive Psychology
    4. Assistant Professor in Neuropsychology

    The Psychonomics Department is organized around four professorships.
    Frans Verstraten holds the professorship for cognitive and theoretical
    psychology, Edward de Haan is professor of neuropsychology, Lex Wertheim
    is professor of cognitive ergonomics, and Rien Verbaten is professor of
    human psychophysiology and psychopharmacology.

    The department of Psychonomics has a strong research tradition within a
    theoretical, neuroscience and experimental psychological perspective.
    Topics on which research is performed include perception, memory,
    language, attention and emotion. The department participates in two
    research centres 'Psychology & Health' (P&H) and the 'Helmholtz
    Institute' (HI). In addition, there are close collaborative links with
    the Rudolf Magnus Research Institute (RMI) within “het Universitair
    Medisch Centrum (UMC) Utrecht”. Within the Psychological Laboratory
    there are excellent research facilities with well-equipped research
    labs. A wide range of research equipment is available, for example for
    determining psychophysical thresholds, psychophysiological recording
    equipment, computerized reaction time experiments, transcranial magnetic
    stimulation, neuropsychological research, eye movement recording
    equipment, theory comparison and language analysis
    The study Psychology is provided by five Departments within the Faculty
    of Social sciences, psychonomics, developmental psychology, clinical
    psychology, social and organizational psychology and health psychology.
    These five departments and the department of Research methods and
    statistics are responsible for the first two years of the study. In
    addition, each department offers one or more specializations within
    Psychology in the final two years

    Information about the vacancies

    1. Assistant Professor in Cognitive and Theoretical Psychology
    The successful candidate is expected to contribute to teaching
    introductory psychology. In addition he/she is required to participate
    in psychology course for cognitive and technical artificial
    intelligence. In addition she/he will supervise individual student
    projects such as placements, literature reviews and thesis projects.
    Research will be carried out within the Psychology & Health Institute.
    Work will be performed in collaboration with the professor in cognitive
    and theoretical psychology.

    We are looking for somebody with a PhD in Psychology, who has experience
    with and knowledge of cognitive psychology. Experience with cognitive
    artificial intelligence and/or technical artificial intelligence,
    specifically concerning cognitive neuroscience would be desirable.
    Applicants will have a record of publishing in international journals
    and academic lecturing experience.

    2. Assistant Professor in Psychophysics
    The successful candidate is expected to contribute to introductory
    teaching in Psychology as well as in psychophysics and computer
    programming, especially the courses cognitive and theoretical psychology
    and several practicals. In addition she/he will supervise individual
    student projects such as placements, literature reviews and thesis
    projects. Research will be carried out within the Helmholtz
    Institute. Work will be performed in collaboration with the professor
    in cognitive and theoretical psychology.

    We are looking for somebody with a PhD in Psychology, of physics, with
    knowledge of psychophysics and cognitive psychology. Applicants will
    have a record of publishing in international journals. Experience with
    computerized experimentation would be advantageous. Academic lecturing
    experience is a requirement.

    3. Assistant Professor in Applied Cognitive Psychology
    The successful candidate is expected to contribute to introductory
    teaching in Psychology as well as in ergonomics, especially the courses
    cognitive ergonomics and the ergonomics practicum. In addition she/he
    will supervise individual student projects such as clinical placements,
    literature reviews and thesis projects. Research will be carried out
    within the Helmholtz Institute. Work will be performed in
    collaboration with the professor in cognitive ergonomics.

    We are looking for somebody with a PhD in Psychology, who has experience
    in cognitive psychology and ergonomics. Applicants will have a record of
    publishing in international journals. Experience with industrial
    application of experimental psychology would be advantageous. Academic
    lecturing experience is a requirement.

    4. Assistant Professor in Neuropsychology
    The successful candidate is expected to contribute to introductory
    teaching in Psychology as well as in Neuropsychology, especially the
    courses neuropsychology and neuropsychological assessment. In addition
    she/he will supervise individual student projects such as clinical
    placements, literature reviews and thesis projects. Research will be
    carried out within the Helmholtz Institute. Work will be performed in
    collaboration with the professor in neuropsychology.

    We are looking for somebody with a PhD in Psychology, who has experience
    with the cognitive and clinical aspects of neuropsychology. Applicants
    will have a record of publishing in international journals. Experience
    with ERP recordings would be advantageous. Preference will be given to
    candidates with academic lecturing experience.

    For all vacancies:
    You have obtained a PhD with, through international publications
    demonstrable research experience, which fits in contents and technically
    within the research program of the department
    In addition, you have experience in lecturing within the required area
    of psychology. You have obtained a basic teaching and research
    qualification of the University of Utrecht or have a comparable

    We offer a position for a period of five years, with formal evaluation
    after two years. The position can become permanent depending on the
    teaching and research achievements in the period of 5 years. Salary will
    be between Fl 5589 - 8769 per month for a full-time position.
