Elsevier Science journal DISPLAYS
Special issue on
"Halftoning and Image Quality"
DISPLAYS is the international journal covering the research, development,
and application of displays technology and its effective presentation of
visual information. Given the increasing use of hardcopy output devices,
high quality halftoning is becoming of increasing importance. This timely
special issue provides a unique opportunity to collectively present
outstanding
work in the areas of halftoning and image quality.
Original papers are solicited in the following areas:
1. Techniques and Theory (with emphasis on image quality).
Binarization algorithms
- error diffusion
- adaptive techniques
- halftone screen design
- hybrid methods
Spectral analysis/theoretical foundations
2. Human factors
Quantitative Halftone Quality measures
-contrast models
-color sensitivity models
-applicability of vision science to engineering
Psychophysical testing of halftone image quality
3. Product factors/Applications considerations
Physical parameters of display technology
- effect of ink/paper
- display luminance
- printer models
Assessment of technology advances with respect to
human visual system.
4. Color halftoning
Techniques
Theory
Models
Printer models
5. Extended topics
