Postdoctoral position in neurophysiology of mammalian vision available at
the Institute of Ophthalmology, University College London. Position
available from September 1998 (but could start later), for 3 years in the
first instance.
The work explores the functional organisation of the primary visual cortex.
In particular, it focusses on the representation of contextually relevant
stimuli across the cortical network, exploring the temporal characteristics
of individual cell responses and the synchrony of firing across integrated
networks. The candidate will work in well equipped laboratories funded by
grants from the Medical Research Council and Wellcome Trust.
Candidates should have relevant background experience in the field of
neuroscience and have or be completing their doctorate. Candidates
experienced in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply:
in vivo extracellular and/or intracellular recording, quantitative visual
neurophysiology, optical imaging, C-programming, anatomical tracer
reconstruction. An associated interest in visual psychophysics/modelling
would be encouraged.
Candidates should email or fax Professor Adam Sillito sending an
application letter outlining their research interests together with their
CV and names and contact addresses of 3 referees.
