Pre-attentive and Attentive Mechanisms in Vision: Perceptual organization
and dysfunction

The Third Annual Vision Research Conference, 7-8 May 1999, Fort Lauderdale,
FL, USA

The Third Annual Vision Research Conference ‘Pre-attentive and
Attentive Mechanisms in Vision: Perceptual organization and
dysfunction’ will take place 7-8 May 1999, Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA
as a satellite to the 1998 meeting of ARVO. The conference is co-sponsored
by Vision Research / Elsevier Science and ARVO.

The scope of the conference is reflected in the following sessions:
Pre-attentive mechanisms in perceptual organization; Attentive mechanisms
in visual perception; Object-based attention; Attentive vision and eye
movements; Attention and visual awareness; Dysfunction of perceptual
organization

Leading experts will present the most recent concepts and data on the
themes of the conference. The aim is to stimulate discussion and hence
further research, which will eventually help to unravel the (neuronal)
mechanisms underlying perceptual organization. As such, the two-day program
should appeal to a mixed audience of psychophysiologists,
neurophysiologists, neuropsychologists, cognitive scientists and clinical
researchers in vision.

Non-speaker participants may present their data in poster sessions. The
deadline for submission of abstracts is 15 January 1999.
