The CVGPR-group (http://www.ti.uni-mannheim.de/~bmg/BMG-index-e.html)
has been founded in October 1998 as part of the Institute of Computer
Engineering within the Department of Mathematics and Computer
Science. Areas of research include nonlinear diffusion filtering and
partial differential equations for image and video processing,
modeling of statistical a priori knowledge for variational image
segmentation and restoration, large margin classifiers for machine
learning and pattern recognition, and the integration of techniques
for computer vision and visualization.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- master degree in computer science, applied mathematics, electrical
engineering, or physics
- strong interest in thorough scientific work and a high level of
self-motivation
- strong mathematical background
- good programming skills (C/C++, Unix)
- good written and oral communication skills in English
DESIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- image processing and computer vision experience
- OpenGL experience
- readiness to acquire a working knowledge of the German language (in
view of the teaching duties)
DUTIES:
- active participation in research activities of our group
- establishment and organization of exercises and practicals in
computer science and image processing for undergraduates
