Postdoctoral Position in Psychophysics of Glaucoma.
SUNY, State College of Optometry invites applicants for a two-year
Postdoctoral Fellowship in psychophysical studies of glaucoma.
The Fellow will be expected to generate research projects
under the guidance of Drs. Bill Swanson, Qasim Zaidi, and Mitchell Dul
(Director of the Glaucoma Institute). The fellowship includes two days a
week with Dr. Swanson, two days a week with Dr. Zaidi, and one day a week
in the Glaucoma Clinic with Dr. Dul. Work with Dr. Swanson will be on
development and utilization of new clinical tests for monitoring
effectiveness of glaucoma treatment, as well as mathematical models and
corresponding tests to evaluate the pathophysiology of glaucoma in terms
of different visual pathways. Work with Dr. Zaidi will be on developing
two methods for understanding the neural effects of Glaucoma. The first
will involve motion perception techniques that separate detection of
motion-energy from position tracking. The second will involve developing
a novel perimetric device for computer-generated stimuli.
Candidates should have a background in psychophysics and an
interest in ocular diseases. Salary: stipend will be competitive and
commensurate with experience. Applicants should contact Bill Swanson at:
