SUMMER SCHOOL ON ADAPTIVE OPTICS
LOCATION: University of California, Santa Cruz
DATE: July 8-14, 2000
APPLICATION FORM (due May 15th): We will be screening applicants. If accepted,
you will receive confirmation for registration by May 25th. Please download
application form from <http://www.ucolick.org/~cfao/aosummer/>.
SPONSORING ORGANIZATIONS:
Center for Adaptive Optics (NSF Science and Technology Center)
National Optical Astronomy Observatories
DESCRIPTION:
We will be meeting on the beautiful campus of the University of California in
Santa Cruz to learn the techniques of adaptive optics and the way they are
applied in practice. With the advent of adaptive optics systems on large
telescopes that are accessible to large user communities (Gemini, VLT, Keck,
and many 4m-class telescopes), there is a need to spread the knowledge of how
to use this complicated technology effectively. In addition to astronomy, the
Summer School will address applications of adaptive optics to vision science.
We will be describing system components, and the general adaptive optics
concepts that will be relevant for both astronomy and vision science. The
level of this summer school is appropriate to graduate students, postdocs, and
researchers who are not experts in the field.
