Research Assistant/Technical Assistant Emory Vision Correction Center

Emory Vision is seeking a full time research assistant who is mathematically
intuitive with strong computer skills. Working with scientists from a variety
of backgrounds, you will be asked to help develop, validate and disseminate
information derived from the prototype device, the Spatially Resolved
Refractometer currently under development at Emory in a joint project with
the Scheipens Eye Research Institute in Boston. You must have interest in
all and skills in several of the following: wavelet/multiscalar analysis,
Fourier analysis, multivariate analysis, modulation transfer function and
Strell ratios. You must also understand statistics. We aim to work mostly in
higher-level environments such Matlab, opportunistically in other packages
and, when necessary, in Visual Basic, C/C++ and Java. You will work directly
with physicians and clinicians in obtaining and analyzing data procured from
the Spatially Resolved Refractometer. Wavefront analysis derived from data
from prototype device will be used to develop laser algortihms to treat
refractive errors in the human eye.
This job is an excellent opportunity to learn about all aspects of research,
and can be useful as a preparation for graduate school or professional
training in related areas. The position is for at least one year, preferably
two. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
