The Department of Medical Physics & Imaging at Cedars Sinai Medical
Center (an affiliate of UCLA School of Medicine) invites applications
for two new postdoctoral openings (positions available immediately).
POSTDOCTORAL POSITION I:
The postdoctoral fellow will participate in a Cedars Sinai/NASA Ames
collaborative project investigating and modeling saccades and perceptual
decisions during visual search. The position is based at Cedars Sinai
in Los Angeles but involves occasional travel to NASA Ames Research
Center in the Bay Area.
Requirements: A Ph.D. in Psychology, Visual Science, Computer Science
or related field. Experience in visual psychophysics, computational
modeling, and statistics. Familiarity with signal detection theory a
plus. Position is for two years.
POSTDOCTORAL POSITION II
The postdoctoral fellow will participate in a NIH sponsored project to
develop models of visual detection and identification of targets
embedded in complex backgrounds with a special emphasis on medical image
backgrounds. The models are to be used to perform automated evaluation
and optimization of image quality. This is a two year position
renewable for a third year.
Requirements: A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Physics, Visual Science,
Medical Physics, Psychology or related field. Experience in image
processing and analysis, signal processing, visual perception and
psychophysics, and statistics.
Cedars Sinai Medical Center is located in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles,
California. The Department of Medical Physics & Imaging consists of an
interdisciplinary group of researchers working in an array of problems
ranging from intra-vascular radiation treatment of coronary disease and
computer based diagnosis of medical images to basic human vision and
medical image perception. The Vision & Image Understanding Laboratory
has ongoing projects (with a strong emphasis on computational modeling)
on visual detection and identification in complex backgrounds, texture
synthesis, letter identification, visual search, attention, and medical
image perception, and maintains active collaborations with the vision
group at NASA Ames.
