Each year after ARVO, the Low-Vision Research Group (LVRG) presents
the Atwell Award to a young investigator who gave the best
presentation in the area of low-vision research at the ARVO meeting.
The recipient is selected from nominations made to the Program
Committee of the Low-Vision Research Group. Selection is based on
the quality and promise of the research. This year, the recipient of
the Atwell Award is Sing-Hang Cheung from the Minnesota Laboratory
for Low-Vision Research at the University of Minnesota. His
presentation, co-authored by Dr. Gordon Legge, entitled "Object
    recognition: effect of window size."

Information regarding the history of the Atwell Award, and its past
and current recipients, can be found on our website
