RESEARCH FELLOW - VISUAL ATTENTION AND "CHANGE BLINDNESS"
Salary on RA1A scale up to point 10 - £16,286-£21,597 pa plus £l,462 pa LW,
according to qualifications. The appointment is available from 1 October 2000.
Applications are invited for a three year Research Fellowship position,
working with Professor Michael Wright on a project, funded by the Wellcome
Trust, to study psychophysical and neural mechanisms of visual attention and
"change blindness". Quantitative psychophysical and multichannel evoked
potential techniques will be employed.
Applicants should normally hold, or expect to hold by the appointment date,
a PhD in vision research, psychology, neuroscience, AI/computing or a related
scientific discipline. Good programming, numerical and data analysis skills
are essential.
Enthusiasm for vision research is likewise important, and applicants should have
experience of, or be able to develop proficiency in, psychophysical techniques,
graphics programming, and the recording and imaging of evoked potentials.
The Department of Human Sciences has a well-established Vision Research Laboratory,
and is part of the Foursites vision research collaboration which combines a substantial
number of leading researchers from Brunel, Royal Holloway, Reading and Surrey
Universities. The Psychology group in Human Sciences has additional research strengths
in a number of areas including cognitive psychology, cognitive
neuropsychology and neuroimaging.
Brunel University is a medium-sized campus University situated in the
western suburbs of London, with good transport links to Central London,
Oxford and Heathrow Airport.
