A postdoctoral position funded by the Wellcome Trust is open
immediately for research in auditory-visual motion perception. The
project involves brain imaging in humans using electroencephalography
(EEG) and magnetoencephalography (MEG), as well as psychophysical
studies. We seek a motivated scientist or engineer with strong
computer programming (e.g. C, C++, Matlab) and data analysis skills,
and a particular interest in applying those skills to understanding
how the brain works. The ideal candidate would have a recent PhD in
neuroscience, computer science, or a related sub-discipline in physics
or biology. The MEG work is performed in
collaboration with the Brain Research Unit at Helsinki University of
Technology, and the post may involve one or two trips to Finland.
The starting date is flexible, but preferably as soon as possible.
The post is for one year initially, with the possibility of renewal.
The salary will be determined by the age- and experience-appropriate
level on the Wellcome Trust scale.
The laboratory is part of a strong, active Neurosciences community at
Newcastle University, and closely collaborates with members in the
Physiology and Psychology Departments. Newcastle upon Tyne is
a lively city surrounded by beautiful countryside.
Please send applications, including a brief statement of research
interests, current CV, and names and contact details of three
