Erasmus University Rotterdam, Post-doc position
We offer a Post Doctoral position to participate in the program funded by
Human Frontier (2000-2003): DYNAMIC TUNING IN VISUAL MOTION AND DEPTH
PROCESSING.
The central theme in this program is how spatial transformations are
performed in various visual tasks. For example, to judge self-motion or
objects' motion relative to the head, visual motion must be corrected for
the rotation of the eyes in the head. Also, to judge distance relative to
the head or body correctly, binocular disparities must be corrected for the
vergence and version orientation of the eyes.
The basic goal in this project will be to model the transformation of
retina- to head-based measures of motion and disparity using 'gain-field'
type of models and test these model by means of pschophysical experiments
(in house) and fMRI and electrofysiological studies in the monkey (in
collaboration with other members of the program). We seek a recent Ph.D.
with experience in a computational/psychophysical approach in
neuroscience. Programming in C and Mathematica will be required.
To get the flavour of the approach see Beintema & Van den Berg (1998).
