Research on Industrial Colour Tolerances
The Institute for National Measurement Standards (INMS) is seeking a
post-doctoral researcher to participate in research on the influence of
spatial effects on colour difference perception. The project will involve
the design and application of a software-based experimental interface to be
used with an existing CRT-based visual colorimeter. It will also require the
development of new methods of analysis based on the most recent findings
about cone spectral sensitivities and the processing of cone signals by the
visual system.
Applicants require a doctoral degree in Science or Engineering for a
recognized university within the past five years. The successful candidate
should have a visual psychophysics and colour perception background with
good programming skills, laboratory hardware skills, and interests in human
vision and digital imaging. The fellowship has an annual value of $36785
(CDN) plus a travel allowance for fellow, spouse, and children. The
position will be awarded initially for one year with the possibility of
renewal for a second year with positive review of the progress. If
appropriate funds become available, the extension of the support for a third
year may also be considered.
The INMS is the recognized primary centre of reference in Canada for the
accuracy, validity and traceability of physical and chemical measurements.
Its research program includes the development of photometric, radiometric
and colorimetric scales and standards. INMS promotes the acceptability of
its measurement services and standards by active participation in
international comparisons and in international standardization committees.
Applicants should send their résumé and the name of two referees to:
