Optical Society of America and University of California Irvine Vision and Color meeting
Saturday, October 13th to Monday, October 15th, 2001
FIRST CALL FOR PAPERS
The Vision and Color Division of the OSA will be holding a high-quality, low-cost, 3-day satellite meeting at the University of California Irvine immediately before the OSA Annual meeting in Long Beach. Our goal is to reinvigorate our Division, which has suffered from declining attendance over recent years, and to encourage local participation.
The preliminary schedules, including those invited speakers who have so far accepted our invitation to speak, are given below. We also encourage submitted papers, for which there are
several open slots. Once those slots are filled, we will schedule poster sessions.
The meeting in Irvine will consist of sessions on Color and sessions on Vision. Sessions on Applications of Vision Science will be scheduled during the OSA Annual meeting in Long Beach on Tuesday, October 16th, 2001. Attendance at the satellite meeting will be FREE; there will be no formal registration fee. To attend the Applied Vision and Optics sessions, you must pay the one-day OSA registration fee.
A new biennial invited talk named in honor of Robert M. Boynton will be presented on Sunday evening. The first speaker, Rhea Eskew, was chosen by Bob for his contributions to OSA and vision science. The talk will be introduced by Robert M. Boynton.
Please contact any of the organizers or committee members for further information.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION
Abstracts should be limited to 250 words, including titles. Please submit abstracts for both invited and submitted papers by e-mail to the OSA/UCI meeting c/o Andrew Stockman at
astockman@ucsd.edu
Please send the abstracts either as a MS Word attachment, or as plain text.
The deadline for abstract submissions will be July 1st, 2001.
After July 1st, we will continue to accept abstract submissions, but we will then only be able to guarantee poster slots.
Abstracts for the OSA/UCI meeting will be reviewed by the organizers and will be published in Optics Express.
Please note that to present a paper at the OSA Annual Meeting in Long Beach, instead of the satellite meeting, you must submit your abstract through OSA as usual (see http://www.osa.org).
Their deadline is April 20th, 2001. Those people who prefer to present papers in color and vision at the Annual meeting rather than at the satellite meeting will be accommodated at the Annual meeting in the Topics in Vision and Topics in Color Vision sessions.
