New Approaches to Treatment of Adult Amblyopia -- ARVO special interest
group (SIG)
ARVO SIG Monday 30th April, 1.45pm-3.15pm, Room 315.
New Approaches to Treatment of Adult Amblyopia
Organizer - Uri Polat (contact at sfs@netvision.net.il)
Adult Amblyopia is generally not treated due to the assumption that adults
no longer have cortical plasticity. Studies of the last decade have
demonstrated improvement of visual functions that can attributed to
plasticity in the adult visual system, including in adults with amblyopia.
This SIG will present and discuss the current treatment techniques, recent
perceptual learning results, plasticity, and neural-based models of
Amblyopia.
SIG Outline:
Part 1: Clinical Treatment of Amblyopia - rationale and efficacy
Part 2: Cortical Plasticity
Part 3: Models of Amblyopia
Part 4: Discussion
