    The Applications of Visual Science Technical Group will be holding the
    following sessions on Tuesday, October 16 at the OSA Annual meeting.

    · Symposium: Imaging Vision (Joint with Optics in Biology and Medicine)
    Presider: Steve Burns
    Invited speaker: Fred Fitzke

    · Symposium: Etiology and Assessment of Refractive Errors
    Presider: Ray Applegate
    Invited speaker: Christine Wildsoet

    · Symposium: Light Scattering and Polarization of Ocular Structures
    Presider: Susana Marcos
    Invited speaker: Thomas van den Berg

    · Workshop: Metrics to Define Image Quality in the Human Eye
    Presider: Austin Roorda

    Following all sessions on Tuesday, there will be Business Meeting of the
    Vision and Color Division of the OSA. If you are interested in the future
    role of Vision and Color at the Optical Society of America, then you should
    attend this meeting.

    Abstract Submissions: While the official abstract submission deadline has
    passed, postdeadline abstract submissions are encouraged for poster
    presentations only. The posters will be in the back of the session room and
    will be up all day Tuesday. For more information link to "Submissions" =>

    Young Investigator Award: The Young Investigator Award is given annually to
    the best presentation within the Division of Vision and Color. The award is
    based on: (1) the scientific rigor and/or engineering excellence of the
    presented work; (2) originality; (3) the clarity of the presentation.
    Poster presentations and oral presentations are considered equally.
    Postdeadline submissions will also be considered. For more information link

    Students get reduced registration rates of $135 for the entire meeting.

    Satellite Meeting: The Vision Technical Group and the Color Technical
    Group, who have traditionally been part of the OSA Annual meeting, will be
    holding sessions at a satellite meeting at UC Irvine from Saturday October
    13th - Monday October 15th. For more information on the satellite meeting
    link to: http://www-cvrl.ucsd.edu/osa/default.htm. The Applications of
    Visual Science Sessions have been scheduled to avoid conflict with the
    satellite meeting. Those wishing to attend the OSA Annual meeting can opt
    to pay a one-day registration fee for Tuesday only.
