    Dear Colleagues:

Those of you using the ³Freiburg Visual Acuity (and Contrast) Test²
    (FAT), please read on:

After more than 6 years of public deployment, the "first real bug"
was found: If and only if the acuity test results were displayed as
³Snellen ratio², the values were incorrect for certain test
distances. Decimal acuity values and all results formatted to the
    clipboard were fine.

Special thanks to Pauline Cheung & Helen Eng for spotting this
sizable problem and nagging me sufficiently to look into the matter
    deeply enough.

Version 5.4 of the FAT corrects this bug, and further allows you to
switch the Snellen format to "imperial" or "non-imperial" (ft vs m).
The revised version is available for free download at
    <http://www.ukl.uni-freiburg.de/aug/bach/fat/>. Please note that it
only works on PowerMacs and requires MacOS 8.6 or later.

I apologize for any inconvenience my error may have caused you and
look forward ;-( to further feedback.

    Best, Michael.
