POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE IN PERCEPTION & ACTION, BROWN UNIVERSITY
A post-doctoral position in Perception & Action is available for 2.5
years, beginning immediately, Research investigates the visual
control of human locomotion and related behavior using
state-of-the-art virtual reality and motion analysis techniques.
Projects include psychophysical and behavioral experiments on
steering, obstacle avoidance, and route selection in stationary and
dynamic environments. Visual control strategies and their
interactions are modeled using dynamical systems methods, with
applications to robotics and intelligent vehicles. Facilities include
a unique 12 x 12 m VR lab for free walking, a treadmill with
projection screen, SGI graphics, camera-based motion analysis system,
force plate. Candidates should have a background in perceptual and/or
motor research and expertise in some combination of computer graphics
programming, kinematic motion analysis and signal processing, and/or
dynamical systems modeling. Ph.D. must be completed before starting.
Salary is competitive. Send vita, brief statement of research
interests, and 3 letters of reference to Dr. William H. Warren,
Post-Doc Search, Dept. of Cognitive & Linguistic Sciences, Brown
