POSTDOCTORAL POSITION: MECHANISMS OF FORM VISION
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral research position
studying form vision at York University, Toronto in the laboratory of
Hugh R. Wilson. We are using psychophysics, neural modelling, and
brain imaging techniques to study intermediate and higher levels of
form vision associated with cortical V4 and the fusiform face area.
Emphasis will be on studying the global processes underlying
perception of head and face shape plus the role of movement in object
perception. Our fMRI research is conducted at the University of
Western Ontario (2 hours away) using their 4 Tesla research magnet.
Data analysis is done at York. The ideal applicant will have
expertise in one or more of the following areas: visual
psychophysics, neural modelling, computer image processing, or fMRI.
Experience with Matlab is very desirable. In August we move into a
new research building housing the York Centre for Vision Research,
which comprises 22 faculty members from biology, psychology, computer
science, kinesiology, and philosophy. For further information and
    recent publications, see:

Starting date can be anytime after July 1 for two or three
years. Starting salary $30,000-$32,000 (Canadian). Please send
curriculum vitae and email addresses of three faculty who can provide
references to Hugh R. Wilson, preferably by email at
