POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN VISION AND ACTION
A postdoctoral position, beginning August 1, 2001 or soon after, is
available in an international collaboration funded by the Human
Frontiers Science Program. The position that is available is at the
Department of Psychology and Center for Neural Science, New York
University.
The research project concerns the combination of cues to depth for
perceptual judgments and for motor acts (reaching and grasping), as
viewed from the perspective of Bayesian decision-making. All of the
following are desirable in a candidate: (1) programming skills,
especially experience with computer graphics and virtual reality, (2) a
strong mathematical or natural science background, (3) previous work
with computer-controlled psychophysical experiments in perception or
motor coordination, (4) numerical analysis and modeling experience.
The NYU vision group includes over 20 faculty members spanning 6
departments. They are involved in research in all areas of visual
science including psychophysics, computational and mathematical
modeling and physiology. See our Web site at http://vision.nyu.edu
This appointment is initially for one year, although it may be extended
depending on progress and availability of funding. An application
should include a CV, sample publications, and references.
