Postdoctoral Position: Gene Libraries from Single Neurons in Retinal Slice Preparation
The University of Rochester Medical Center
Department of Ophthalmology and Center for Visual Science
-----
A postdoctoral position is available at The University of Rochester Medical Center in the Dept. of Ophthalmology and Center for Visual Science to study cell-type specific gene expression in a physiological slice preparation of primate and rodent retina. We combine techniques of constructing full-length cDNA libraries from extracted mRNA with patch-clamp physiology to study gene expression in morphologically identified single neurons. Our research program combines this tool with histological, molecular and ultrastructural methods to investigate intracellular signaling cascades in functional circuits. Collaborative studies are also underway to compare single-cell cDNA libraries between normal and diseased neurons in retinal degenerative disorders. The candidate should have a proficient background in patch-clamp physiology and a strong interest in learning and applying molecular cloning techniques. Salary is commensurate with experience. The University of Rochester is an equal !
opportunity employer.
